Serbian-born coach appointed as new China manager
Former Crvena Zvezda coach Vladimir Petrovic has been appointed as China's new manager.
The Serbian-born tactician replaces Zhu Guanghu, who resigned following a poor display in the Asia Cup tournament, where China failed to progress past the group stage.
Petrovic, whose nickname is Pizon, won the double with Chinese side Dalian Shide in 2005.
Former France international Jean-Pierre Papin and China Under 23 coach Ratomir Dujkovic were also said to be in the running for the job.
China have performed well under foreign coaches. In 2004 Dutchman Ari Haan led them to the Asia Cup final, and in 2002 the country qualified for its first World Cup under Serbian Bora Milutinovic.
