Brazilian pleased with early Blues opportunity

Alex admits he did not expect to feature for Chelsea in the Premier League so early in his Stamford Bridge career. The Brazilian defender finally received a work permit to start his Chelsea career in the summer after several seasons with PSV Eindhoven. He made his debut as a substitute against Liverpool last month, and has started The Blues' last two league games alongside John Terry. The centre-half admits his new team-mates have been 'helpful' in his adapting to the English game, along with compatriot Belletti, who was recently signed from Barcelona. "I think it's been quicker than I expected because I've already started two games," Alex told uefa.com.

Confidence

"All the players have been very helpful to me and to Belletti. "It's a good group of players and they have been helpful to both of us and this is helping us adapt." Alex also revealed he is learning quickly from playing alongside Chelsea captain Terry at the heart of the defence. He added: "He's given me a lot of confidence. "Even though I don't know English, we communicate quite well and I can watch him. I see his positioning in the field is very good. "I observe him and he tries to help - he tells me what to do."
