Month-long deal for Jarman

Nathan Jarman has signed a month-long contract with Grimsby Town after impressing on trial. The young striker was released by Barnsley at the end of last season and has been training with Grimsby for several weeks. Jarman has been given the opportunity to earn a longer deal, with Grimsby boss Alan Buckley praising the player's improvement in fitness. "He's done absolutely marvellously well when you look at the 'roly-poly' lad that came here six to eight weeks ago," Buckley told the club's official website. "It is only in the last two or three days that we have only been able to assess him as a player. "I could see that he had a good appreciation of the game. The lad has never been fit enough to do himself justice. "Time will tell if he makes it into our first team. His ability is not in question. He knows how to play, uses his body well, is a good footballer, good touch, good eye for goal - why shouldn't he go on? We can assess him properly now though."
