Midfielder asks for contract to be cancelled
Danny Sonner has left Walsall after asking to have his contract cancelled.
The veteran midfielder returned to Walsall for a second spell at the club in the summer and had made seven appearances.
However, the 35-year-old has been hampered by a series of niggling injuries and asked to leave the League One side.
Explaining his decision to cut short his stay with Richard Money's side, Sonner feels it would not be fair on the club if he was unable to play.
"I just thought that at this moment in time I needed to recuperate and get my fitness back," Sonner told the Express & Star.
"I thought it was best for the club that I left. I've got an Achilles injury and I knew I was going to be out for two or three weeks.
"I didn't want to be sitting in the treatment room, and thought maybe the time was right to leave for the club's sake because I wouldn't have been able to make a contribution."
