Penney hopes to land Bridges on loan

Darlington have launched a fresh bid to land former Leeds and Sunderland striker Michael Bridges. The Quakers attempted to sign Bridges from Carlisle last summer, but the 29-year-old decided to join Hull City instead. Now the Championship club have made Bridges available on loan and Darlington boss Dave Penney has made his interest known.

Enquiry

Penney told The Northern Echo: "A circular has gone out to clubs letting everyone know that he (Bridges) is available on loan so we have made an enquiry, like most other teams I would think. "That's as far as it has gone." Penney is desperate for more strike power with Pawel Abbott currently sidelined with a knee injury and Ian Harty granted leave to deal with 'personal problems'.
