Michael Owen has been included in the England squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia.

And Ashton handed chance by McClaren

Michael Owen has been included in the England squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers against Estonia and Russia. West Ham striker Dean Ashton has been handed his second international call with Steve McClaren shorn of the services of metatarsal victim Emile Heskey, who made such an impact alongside Owen in the recent victories over Israel and Russia. Newcastle striker Owen, who only underwent surgery to resolve groin and hernia related injuries six days ago, has already returned to training with his club. Magpies manager Sam Allardyce has warned that the St James' Park club should have the final say over Owen's fitness. But McClaren appears determined to select the striker after his goals helped England back into second place in Group E and has named him in a 27-man party. Ashton's last England call in August 2006 ended in an injury nightmare when he suffered a broken ankle in training which kept him out of the entire season.

Chelsea duo included

Chelsea defender John Terry, who played with a protective mask against Valencia after fracturing his cheekbone against Fulham, is selected, along with Stamford Bridge team-mate Frank Lampard who has been sidelined by a thigh injury. Everton defender Joleon Lescott is again included after being handed a late call-up for the last squad. England take on Estonia at Wembley on 13th October before travelling to Moscow to face Guus Hiddink's Russia on an artificial surface four days later. Former captain David Beckham is still out with knee trouble, along with Manchester United midfield duo Michael Carrick (elbow) and Owen Hargreaves (tendinitis). England squad to face Estonia and Russia: Goalkeepers: Carson, James, Robinson. Defenders: Brown, Campbell, A Cole, Ferdinand, Lescott, P Neville, Richards, Shorey, Terry. Midfielders: Barry, Bentley, J Cole, Downing, Gerrard, Lampard, Wright-Phillips, Young. Strikers: Ashton, Crouch, Defoe, Johnson, Owen, Rooney, Smith.
