Watford chief discusses decision to leave out regular keeper
Watford boss Adrian Boothroyd left out regular first choice goalkeeper Mart Poom at the weekend as a precaution.
The big Estonian has established himself as Boothroyd's No.1 but was surprisingly omitted against Scunthorpe at Glanford Park.
Poom has been nursing a back injury and with this in mind, when coupled with a busy fixture list, Boothroyd opted to leave him out.
It was not, though, a decision that sat well with the 35-year-old.
Tough choice
Boothroyd said: "Poom's got a slight back injury but it was just precautionary to leave him out.
"I didn't want him to play three games in a week.
"He's going away on international duty and there's a lot of travelling involved, so I thought it was the right thing that Richard Lee came in and played.
"He was very annoyed and angry about it but Richard's done well, the unsung hero."
