Spurs captain eyes training return

Ledley King has handed Tottenham a boost after declaring he could return to training in two weeks' time. The club captain has failed to resume playing after knee surgery in the summer, despite having initially earmarked a return by the season's start. Spurs have certainly missed the England international this season, with their threadbare defence less than impressive. Jol believes the player is now not far from making a return to the first team fold.

Progress

"He's still making progress and hopefully he will be back with the group in two weeks' time, maybe longer," said the Dutchman. "I'm used to it because he was out of the team injured last year for seven months, so hopefully when he returns now he will be back for a lot of games. "He's training in a smaller group and that is good. "Hopefully in two weeks he will join us. He's naturally fit so hopefully it would take another two or three weeks (from then)." Meanwhile, Spurs youngster Tomas Pekhart has signed a new long-term contract. .
