Redknapp waxes lyrical over his top goalscorer
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp was unstinting in his praise for Benjani Mwaruwari after watching his striker net his seventh goal of the season at Wigan on Saturday.
The Zimbabwean has long-since established himself as a Fratton Park favourite but this season has added a goalscoring touch to an impressive work-rate.
Upon arriving in England, Benjani needed 15 games before netting his first goal for Portsmouth but Redknapp insists he has always maintained total faith in the 29-year-old.
And he predicts more to come from the Premier League's surprise leading goalscorer.
Scoring goals
"Benji's scoring goals now which is great," said Redknapp.
"He's always worked his socks off and done great for us but he's never really scored too many - and now he can't stop scoring.
"Ever since I bought him he's done an unbelievable job for us. In his first season he couldn't score a goal for 15 games but he never stopped working, and last season he weighed in with six.
"The fans love him because he is a fantastic fellow and he just loves playing the game. He's always got a smile on his face and now he's adding goals to his play, which is great for him."
