Reds striker knows only three points will suffice

Dirk Kuyt admits Liverpool's UEFA Champions League clash against Besiktas in Turkey is a must-win encounter. Rafa Benitez's side, who lifted the trophy in 2005 and were beaten finalists in May, drew their opening Group D fixture away to Porto before suffering a shock home defeat at the hands of Marseille. Anything less than three points in Istanbul, scene of their astonishing triumph over Milan two years ago, will leave the Reds facing an uphill battle to qualify for the last 16. But victory over Everton in Saturday's controversial Merseyside derby has lifted spirits at Anfield, and Kuyt has set his sights on further success.

Difficult

The Dutch striker said: "We must now keep going forward, we want only to win games. Draws are no good. "If you want to achieve something in Europe and the Premier League you must win these type of difficult away games. We did it at Everton and we can do the same against Besiktas. "The Everton win was really important for our confidence, now we must repeat that victory in Turkey. "Questions had been asked of us, but we handled the physical side and the pressures and noise from a derby crowd. "The way we won boosted everyone's confidence. Now we have to build on that and win the next game, and the next."
Intensity
Fernando Torres is ruled out with a thigh problem, so Kuyt will compete with Andriy Voronin and Peter Crouch for a spot, but the Dutchman has no complaints over Benitez's rotation policy. Kuyt said: "Playing and scoring goals against Everton was good for me and my confidence. I had been injured for the previous 10 days and had missed the international break. "We have to believe in ourselves, and we have a really big squad and sometimes different people are playing. "Everybody wants to play every game. But you cannot play 60-plus games a season at this intensity, if you play 40 you should be really happy. "We all want to win the trophies so we have to accept this is the way to do it."
