Ricardinho confident Besiktas can spring surprise

Ricardinho has told skysports.com that it is crucial for Besiktas to beat Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday. The Turkish side will be desperate to claim their first points in Group A when they entertain Liverpool, live on Sky Sports 2. Ricardinho is wary of the threat posed by Liverpool but feels Besiktas need to win to keep their dreams of qualifying for the next round alive. "For Besiktas the match against Liverpool is key. If we win success is still possible but if we fail we are almost out," the Brazilian told skysports.com. "We need to play the match like a final but Liverpool possess many stars and will be a very difficult team to stop. "I watched the (Merseyside) derby this weekend and Liverpool reacted well in the tough moments. "They have enormous fight and character, but they are also a team with a Latin influence from the coach and the Spanish players. "Besiktas are not conformist and desire the three points this Wednesday. The atmosphere will be special for this final because defeat is not possible." Liverpool have collected just one point from their first two group games and Ricardinho admits it is puzzling to see them struggling. "Liverpool were runners-up last season and in the Premier League they are high in the table, so I do not understand how they only have one point. "Liverpool one point and Besiktas no points from two matches is incredible."
