Marseille coach pays tribute to Porto after draw

Eric Gerets admits Marseille were lucky to escape from their UEFA Champions League game against Porto with a 1-1 draw. Jose Raul Meireles struck the post twice for Porto before Mamadou Niang opened the scoring for Marseille against the run of play. Lucho Gonzalez had to rescue a point for Porto 11 minutes from time but Gerets concedes that Marseille did not deserve to win. "We got a good point, we have to remain honest," Gerets told the French press. "In the first half there was a big gap in class between both teams. We started better in the second half, we could even have won, but it would have been unfair. "Even if it was better in the second half, it was not great football. "Compared to our match in Liverpool, we have not improved our game. But I can't compare with Porto, which is a very different team on a technical level."
