Archie Knox is hoping to stay on at Bolton as part of the new regime under Gary Megson.
Megson watched the 1-1 Uefa Cup Group F draw with Braga from the dugout just hours after being confirmed as the replacement for Sammy Lee.
Scot Knox took charge of the team for the clash at the Reebok Stadium and is now hoping to revert to the role of coach he held under Lee.
Prove themselves
He said: "I will work away with Gary in a similar role as the one I had under Sammy. Whether that changes I do not know. Hopefully it won't.
"Obviously Gary has got to look at all the staff and players. Everyone has got to prove themselves.
"But I have been assured it will be the same staff and there will be no changes."
El-Hadji Diouf came off the bench to put Bolton in front in the 66th minute but substitute Jailson got clear of his marker to send a looping header over goalkeeper Jussi Jaaskelainen and into the net with four minutes to go.
Consolation
Knox said: "It was a shame to lose a goal in the last five minutes but at least we gave a good account of ourselves.
"We were hoping to get off to a good start in the group and three points would have been fine.
"At least we have not lost the game which is a small consolation. We just need to be a bit more resilient when we are in a winning position."
Knox was pleased with Diouf's contribution, adding: "Sometimes these changes work for you, sometimes they do not.
"I thought Diouf would give us a bit more control in the middle of the park. He is someone who can hold the ball and bring others into the game."
