PSV coach tipped to replace Flores at the Mestalla

Valencia are in talks to appoint PSV Eindhoven boss Ronald Koeman as the club's new coach. Following Quique Sanchez Flores' sacking after Sunday's defeat to Sevilla, Valencia have moved quickly to fill the gap. Current PSV coach Koeman appears likely to be installed in the hot seat after the Che confirmed discussions are taking place. "We are negotiating with Koeman," said Valencia's sporting director Miguel Angel Ruiz.

Prudent

"He is close to becoming the new Valencia coach, but we must be prudent. "I expect evertything to be concluded today." Dutch champions PSV have announced a press conference for Wednesday evening, although the reason has not been disclosed. Koeman has emerged as the favourite to take over at the Mestalla after Marcello Lippi distanced himself from the role and reports claimed Jose Mourinho had turned down the opportunity. Former Barcelona defender Koeman has been PSV coach since the summer of 2006, having previously been in charge at Benfica.
