Livorno defeat proves to be final straw

Massimo Ficcadenti has been sacked as Reggina coach in the wake of Wednesday's 3-1 home defeat against Livorno. Club president Lillo Foti confirmed Ficcadenti's departure, just days after giving the coach his support and insisting his post was not under threat. Reggina, who finished third from bottom last season, are at the foot of the Serie A table and have failed to win any of their 10 opening fixtures. Nedo Sonetti has already been linked with the vacancy, with an announcement expected to be made by the club in the next 24 hours. The club's players have not escaped the wrath of Foti, and are to undergo additional training sessions as they look to turn around their dismal start to the campaign.
