Paul Jewell insists he is ready to return to football management and that he will be better than ever.
The former Wigan boss quit the JJB Stadium at the end of last season after masterminding the Latics' last day escape from Premier League relegation.
Jewell guided his side to a win over Sheffield United on the final game of the last campaign to ensure their Premier League status, while condemning the Blades to the drop.
However, Jewell - who has also had managerial spells with Bradford and Sheffield Wednesday - then walked away from Wigan amidst claims he could not handle the pressure.
Pressure
Jewell, though, insists his best performances come under pressure and that he is now ready for a return to a club hot seat.
"I smirk when I hear people saying I got out of management because I couldn't handle the pressure," Jewell told the Daily Express.
"It was a career decision. I'd been at Wigan for six years. I still love the club and have a good relationship with the chairman (Dave Whelan), but it just felt it was time to take a break.
"When you are involved in the sharp end, you don't see the wood for the trees. I have taken a look at myself.
Passion
"I have watched a lot of videos from my time at Bradford, Sheffield Wednesday and Wigan and I have travelled to see teams train.
"I was watching with a clear mind and, hopefully, when I go back into management I will be better for my time out.
"I will never lose my passion, but I think I'd make my decisions a little more calmly. But I don't want to change too much.
"I think I am a decent manager who can get better."
