Valencia coach concedes his side face struggle to stay in
New Valencia boss Ronald Koeman accepted Rosenborg were full value for their 2-0 victory after seeing his side go down in his first match in charge of the Spanish club.
The Dutchman was given as insight into the job that lies ahead for him with Rosenborg running out deserved winners at the Mestalla - a defeat which leaves Valencia on the verge of exiting the Champions League.
Koeman insisted his side - bottom off Group B - could still progress, but conceded they now faced a decidedly uphill struggle.
"With this result we have made things very difficult, nothing is impossible but it is going to be very difficult," stated Koeman.
"We started well in the first 25 minutes, although we didn't make many chances.
"After their goal our moral dropped, we kept on trying but they caused us a lot of danger on the counter-attack. Rosenborg defended and passed the ball very well.
"I congratulate them on the result because they deserved to win.
"The result was negative for everybody (at the club). The most important thing is to analyse the game, work hard and try to calm the players. We must improve at home."
Henriksen dig
By stark contrast, Rosenborg coach Trond Henriksen - who himself only took charge of the Norwegian side after their 2-0 victory over the same opponents a fortnight ago - cut a delighted figure following his team's memorable success.
Indeed, Henriksen could not resist a dig at Valencia after what proved an ultimately comfortable away triumph.
"Yesterday in the press conference I said everything was possible in football and that we would be going for victory," he explained.
"We have seen that it was possible, although I would have been happy with a draw before the game, I am very happy to have won.
"Valencia, if they play like they do today, did not impress me. They played in a cowardly manner given that they were the home side and needed to take more chances.
"We deserved this victory and we closer to making it 0-3 than Valencia were to scoring. I am very proud to be manager of this Rosenborg."
