Keeper leaves Germany on crutches

Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech is a major doubt for Sunday's Premier League clash with Everton. The Czech Republic international injured his calf in Tuesday's goalless UEFA Champions League tie with Schalke and limped away from the Veltins-Arena on crutches. Cech was replaced by Carlo Cudicini at half-time and coach Avram Grant admitted he did not know how long the Chelsea No1 would be sidelined for.

Bad

Grant said: "How bad the injury is we need to wait and see. "It is a calf injury and I asked the doctor if he could continue and he couldn't. But Carlo Cudicini came on and played well." The result ensured Chelsea remain top of Group B and they now only need to win one of their two remaining games against Valencia at home or away to Rosenborg to qualify for the knockout stage.
