Liverpool forward thrilled to triumph in style

Peter Crouch admitted it was important for Liverpool to get their UEFA Champions League campaign back on track following the 8-0 victory over Besiktas on Tuesday. Crouch set Liverpool on their way to victory at Anfield with the opening goal of the night and then completed the rout with a headed eighth one minute from time. The Reds' chances of qualifying for the next round still remain in the balance as they collected just one point from their opening three games. But Crouch feels Liverpool have turned a corner with the emphatic victory over Besiktas and is now looking ahead with confidence. "It's a massive moment," the forward told Sky Sports News. "We started the season slowly, especially in the Champions League. "We wanted a win and we wanted to do it in style, which thankfully we have done."

Benitez glee

Rafa Benitez was delighted with his team's ruthless display but conceded that Besiktas' capitulation made their task easier. "We were creating a lot of chances and we were playing well," said the Liverpool boss. "And when you play well and the other team has their heads down, it is easier."
