Serbia ace sees his long-term future at Old Trafford
Nemanja Vidic is hoping for a lengthy Manchester United stay after penning a contract extension earlier this week.
The former Spartak Moscow defender joined The Red Devils back in 2006 and despite a slow start to life in England, the Serbian ace is now a key member of United's defence.
Such is Vidic's form that United opted to extend his contract until 2012 on Thursday, ensuring his Old Trafford stay for the next four-and-a-half years.
"I would like to think the contract is a measure of how I have taken to a different culture and style of play," he told the Daily Mail.
"My English is coming along - better, than Cristiano's - and this is where I want to be for a long time."
Slow start
Vidic recalls his Manchester arrival and remembers fearing the wrath of Sir Alex Ferguson after seven weeks' inactivity at Spartak showed on the training ground.
"I couldn't do a thing right," he continued. "I couldn't control the ball, and I couldn't pass it ten yards.
"I got angry, shouting at myself and calling myself names for making such stupid and basic mistakes.
"What he thought after paying all that money for me, I couldn't imagine.
"Once I stopped being anxious, I began to adapt to the English game."
