Playmaker rejected Spanish giants to stay at San Siro
Milan star Andrea Pirlo has revealed he turned down an offer to join Real Madrid last year.
The Italian international claims Real made a move for his signature after Italy's 2006 World Cup success.
However, the midfield schemer rejected their overtures to stay with the Rossoneri.
"In the summer of 2006 there had been a rumour of a possible negotiation with Real Madrid," Pirlo told the club's official website.
"It was a really strange situation because it was during the match-fixing scandal, but in the end I opted to stay."
