Foxes caretaker boss sorry for defeat

Frank Burrows apologised to Leicester fans after the disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Burnley. Andy Gray's first-half goal proved to be enough to give managerless Burnley all three points at The Walkers Stadium. City struggled to mount a serious threat on goal despite fielding four strikers for the final 30 minutes of the game and Burrows apologised for his side's performance.

Played poorly

"We played poorly and I would be telling lies if I said anything else," Burrows said. "We've got to take the criticism when we play poorly just as we accept the praise and pats on the back when we play well. "The fans are entitled to voice their disapproval because they pay their money. "The only way we can answer this and win back the respect of the fans is to target and win our next game against Bristol City. "We were a goal down at home and I wanted to gamble putting the forwards on. "You hope someone will do that little bit of magic. It was a gamble that didn't come off and we looked a little disjointed because of it." Burnley caretaker manager Steve Davis was delighted with the win following Steve Cotterill's departure earlier in the week.
Delighted
"I'm delighted with the clean sheet and with the victory," Davis said. "It was an excellent result for the club and I'm sure Steve will be pleased. "Andy's in good scoring form but when he's not scoring he works so hard. I thought he was excellent today. Davis added: "Today has to be top of my list for football memories. "Burnley is my club and everyone knows what it means to me."
