Frank Barlow insists he does not know when there will be a new manager at the JJB Stadium.

Caretaker manager unsure on appointment

Wigan caretaker boss Frank Barlow insists he does not know if there will be a new manager in place at the JJB Stadium by the next Premier League match. The Latics slumped to a comprehensive 4-0 defeat to Tottenham on Sunday where two goals from Jermaine Jenas were followed by strikes from Aaron Lennon and Darren Bent. Barlow claims intensive work is on going at Wigan as they bid to secure a replacement for former manager Chris Hutchings, but is adamant he is unaware when an appointment will be made. "You're asking the wrong person," Barlow told Sky Sports when asked about the arrival of a new manager.

Right decision

"The chairman (Dave Whelan) is the man to ask there. I'm sure that he is working ceaselessly to try and fill that job. "The best job is to ask Mr Whelan and he will make the right decision." Barlow, though, admits whoever is appointed as the new JJB boss will have a tough task. "I think any Premier League job is a big job," Barlow added.
Big job
"It doesn't matter who you are or in which club you are at. A Premier League job is a big job. "Any manager's job is a difficult job whatever decision you are in and wherever you're doing it. "So whoever comes in will be the right man."
