Schalke midfielder pulls out with ankle injury
Jermaine Jones has been forced to withdraw from the Germany squad for the Euro 2008 qualifiers with Cyprus and Wales.
The Schalke midfielder earned a first call-up to the squad last week after coach Joachim Low admitted to being impressed by his 'dynamic style of play'.
But Jones hobbled out of Schalke's 1-1 draw with Hamburg on Saturday after picking up an ankle injury in the first half.
The problem is serious enough to prevent Jones from taking his place in Low's plans, having been tipped to make his international debut.
Germany, who are already qualified for next summer's tournament, face Cyprus in Hannover on Saturday before playing Wales in Frankfurt next week.
