Scottish youngsters boost Under 21 qualifying campaign

Scotland boosted their chances of qualifying for the Under 21 European Championship in Sweden with an emphatic 4-0 victory over Slovenia. With Scotland's Under 21s beginning the day trailing Group 6 leaders Finland by eight points, a win was crucial for Maurice Malpas' side. The visitors started brightly and Kilmarnock midfielder Jamie Hamill's deflected strike past Matjaz Rozman in the 33rd minute gave them a deserved lead. The goals kept coming after the interval with Ross McCormack's 51st minute effort doubling their advantage. Steven Naismith's penalty just six minutes later wrapped up the win and there was still time for Steven Fletcher to score and add the icing on the cake.
