Scotland midfielder believes Big Eck will make right choice

Paul Hartley believes Alex McLeish must put himself first when deciding whether to continue in his role as Scotland manager. Scotland's failure at the final hurdle to qualify for Euro 2008 has cast fresh doubts over whether McLeish will return to club management. His stock has certainly risen since replacing Walter Smith as national coach, with several Premier League clubs thought to be monitoring his situation.

Tough choice

Hartley, who played in Saturday's decisive 2-1 defeat to Italy, believes McLeish has earned the right to do what is right for himself. "He'll have to do what's right for him," Hartley told Sky Sports News. "He might want to get back into club football again, he might not. He's done terrifically and his reputation is at an all-time high just now. "We've got a good group of players, a young group of players, it augurs well for the future."
