Wolves youngster joins on loan
Port Vale have brought in Mark Salmon on loan until January from Wolves.
Salmon has yet to make a first-team appearance for Wolves, but will be in the Vale squad for the weekend's League One game with Doncaster Rovers.
The midfielder was taken aback by the timing of the move, but concedes he had been hoping to be allowed out on loan by Wolves boss Mick McCarthy.
"I only found out today when I had a call from the gaffer saying I was wanted at Port Vale and it came as a bit of a shock really," Salmon told the club's official website.
"I was hoping to go out on loan after Christmas anyway to get some first-team experience under my belt, but this has come out of the blue.
"My long-term aim is to break into the first team at Wolves and I hope the experience I gain at Port Vale will help me do that."
Meanwhile, Vale manager Lee Sinnott has loaned out young centre-half Charlie O'Loughlin to Nantwich Town for a month.
