Newport have appointed Jimmy Dack as the club's manager until the end of the season.

The 42-year-old had been in caretaker charge since Justin Edinburgh left for Gillingham earlier in February.

Dack, who was brought to Rodney Parade by Edinburgh as the club's assistant manager in 2011, has overseen one win in four games since stepping in on a temporary basis.

He has now been given the chance to lead the Exiles for their remaining 14 Sky Bet League Two fixtures, with County currently two points off a play-off place.

Dack told the club's official website: "I would like to thank the board and fans for their support over the last couple of weeks.

"It's now time for us all to come together and get behind the team as we push for the play-offs.

"It is vitally important that we make Rodney Parade our fortress and bring it back to the level it was earlier in the season."

Newport's next outing is on Saturday, with Dack's men making the trip to leaders Burton.
