La Liga round-up: Atletico Madrid stay in touch with the top after win at drenched Eibar

Atletico Madrid overcame a drenched playing surface to scrap their way to a 3-1 La Liga win at Eibar.

Antoine Griezmann put the visitors ahead after just seven minutes and then two quick-fire goals from Mario Mandzukic midway through the first half put the game beyond the reach of Eibar.

The hosts managed to grab a late consolation goal through Federico Piovaccari.

The pitch was in a dire state after heavy rain in the Basque Country, but combative Atletico were in their element and the win sees them keep in touch with league leaders Real Madrid, who are four points ahead.

Granada picked up a much-needed 1-0 win over fellow relegation battlers Elche, moving them above their opponents by a point and out of the drop zone.

Jhon Cordoba scored the only goal of the game in the 56th minute, before Damian Suarez was sent off for the visitors for a second yellow card.

Meanwhile, Celta Vigo beat Cordoba 1-0 thanks to a 56th-minute strike by Nolito.
