Lazio boss optimistic ahead of must-win match in Madrid
Delio Rossi insists Lazio can still qualify for the UEFA Champions League's knockout stage.
The Italians, who are still languishing in the bottom half of the Serie A table domestically, fell to a demoralising 2-1 defeat at home to Olympiakos on Wednesday night.
Goran Pandev had put the Rome side ahead on the half-hour mark before goals from Luciano Galletti and Darko Kovacevic ensured the points went away with the Greeks.
Lazio now need a win from their final match at Group C leaders Real Madrid to go through, but coach Rossi is refusing to accept defeat despite a disappointing night at the Stadio Olimpico.
"The match was difficult and we expected that," Rossi said. "But after we scored we were made to pay heavily for our mistakes.
"It's a pity because we had chances to double the lead as well.
"It won't be easy against Real Madrid, but we go to Spain to win.
"We still have every chance to recover and end the Champions league group stage positively."
