Gary Neville never took a penalty in his professional playing career - and perhaps this is why!
The Sky Sports pundit was taking part in a good-natured Sky Live penalty shoot-out along with colleagues Jamie Carragher, Jamie Redknapp, Paul Merson, Graeme Souness and Niall Quinn as preparations for the new Premier League season got underway at Sky headquarters on Monday.
The former England and Manchester United defender was egged on to take a penalty by commentator Martin Tyler, despite Neville's team having already lost the shoot-out.
In front of the Sky Sports News HQ cameras, Neville stepped up and screwed the ball wide of the target with a finish befitting of a man who scored just seven goals in over 600 appearances for United.
Neville, who was relieved of his duties in his respective coaching roles with Valencia and England earlier this year, was quick to make light of the miss.
"That just about sums up my year so far!" he said.
Don't miss the start of the new Premier League season live on Sky Sports this weekend, kicking off with Hull v Leicester from 11.30am on Saturday on SS1 HD.
