English scouts track youngster after impressive start in SPL

Falkirk face a battle to keep hold of teenage midfield star Scott Arfield, who is being tracked by a cluster of English clubs. The 19-year-old is regarded as Scottish football's hottest property and has featured in all but one of the Bairns' league games this term. And after an impressive international debut for the Scotland Under 21s in last month's 4-0 victory over Slovenia, manager John Hughes is bracing himself for offers from clubs south of the border. "I'm well aware that there have been scouts from English clubs lurking in the stands lately to watch Scott," Hughes told the Daily Record. "One or two of them have asked if he can go down on trial with them but I believe he's past that stage. It's clear to see how good he is just by watching him play. "I think it's fair to say Scott is the most promising young talent in Scotland at present. "He's totally fearless and his confidence is sky high. He has a superb attitude."
