Sky Blues deal must happen by Thursday to avoid points penalty
Film director and actor Alki David could be about to step in and save Coventry from administration.
The billionaire businessman confirmed that he has begun negotiations with the club's board and is hopeful that a deal can be struck before Thursday's deadline.
If no decision has been reached by this date then the club will face a 10- point deduction, dropping them into the relegation zone, and accountants will come in to look after the finances.
David, who is worth an estimated £4billion, would take on Coventry's £38million debt and pay approximately £15million for complete control of the Midlands outfit.
He would also put a transfer budget in place for the January transfer window, which he hopes would then persuade Iain Dowie to stay on as manager after the Sky Blues' boss admitted that he would walk away if the club went into administration.
Great things
"Negotiations are at a very good stage and I expect a positive decision to be made soon," David told
the Guardian.
"Coventry is a team which can achieve great things if it is slapped into shape.
"My aim is to take them into the Premier League and I want to work with the current management team to achieve that."
Established
David, who controls a wide variety of companies, already has a share in Panathinaikos and Nigerian side Leventis United but has now turned his attentions to English football. On top of the proposed takeover of Coventry, he is also looking to buy into an established Premier League club.
"I will try and get there with Coventry and also with a team that already plays in that division," he admitted.
