Czech midfielder could come out of international retirement
Pavel Nedved has been tipped to come out of international retirement and compete at Euro 2008.
The 35-year-old midfielder took his decision to stop playing for Czech Republic after a friendly game against Serbia in August 2006.
He reasoned that it was time for him to step aside and let younger players have a chance.
The Czechs secured qualification for next summer's finals without Nedved but his Juventus team-mate Nicola Legrottaglie expects him to change his mind.
"You will see - Nedved, like me, will return to his national team and play in the European Championships next June," Legrottaglie told
CTK.
Czech Republic team spokesman Lukas Tucek nevertheless claims he knows nothing about Nedved's return, saying: "We don't have such news."
Nedved's agent Zdenek Nehoda has refused to rule out a return for the gifted player.
"So far I have not talked about it with Pavel but anything is possible," said Nehoda.
