Danielle Carter scored a hat-trick on her debut for England as they began their Euro 2017 qualifying campaign against Estonia.

England Women got their Euro 2017 qualification campaign off to an ideal start with an 8-0 hammering of Estonia in Tallinn.

Debutant Danielle Carter was the star of the show at the A Le Coq Arena, opening her account early on and then completing a hat-trick with a pair of late goals.

The Lionesses were playing their first match since claiming the bronze medal at the World Cup in the summer and produced a clinical display against a side ranked 72 spots below them in the FIFA rankings.

The visitors were quickly into their stride and Arsenal striker Carter got her international career off to a fantastic start with a second-minute goal.

Jess Clarke, who was winning her 50th cap, had a cross pushed away by the keeper and Carter, who had set the attack in motion initially, calmly controlled the loose ball before bisecting a pair of defenders on the goal-line with a powerful shot.

The home side had a half-chance to equalise at the other end but England keeper Carly Telford was well placed to save Signy Aarna's effort.

Fran Kirby almost extended the advantage but her shot following a corner unluckily came off the crossbar.

However, England did score a second a couple of minutes later when Kirby did well to cut the ball back to Jo Potter (34), who found the corner of the net.

The all-action Kirby then capped a busy few minutes by claiming the third goal, steering the ball into the net after getting on the end of a through ball from Gemma Davison, Carter having fooled the defence by stepping over the ball.

Davison then created another England goal eight minutes after the half-time interval, picking out Jill Scott this time, and the Manchester City midfielder neatly tucked the chance away from close range.

And Davison herself should have made it 5-0 but the Chelsea winger put a decent opportunity wide of the target.

Kirby then had a goal disallowed before Isobel Christiansen (74) became the second debutant to get on the scoresheet when she smashed a superb shot into the net from the edge of the area.

Carter was continuing to cause the home defence problems and, when her shot was saved, Kirby (81) was on hand to claim her second of the night.

And sub Ellen White then made a quick impact, sending over the cross which allowed Carter (83) to claim her second international goal.

The 22-year-old striker then capped a fantastic night for the Lionesses three minutes into stoppage time, firing home from the edge of the box to complete a debut hat-trick, as Mark Sampson's team ran out resounding winners.
