Gemma Davison leads three Chelsea nominees in Women's PFA Players' Player of the Year

Gemma Davison is one of three Chelsea players to be included in the shortlist for the Women's PFA Players' Player of the Year.

The mercurial winger joined Chelsea after winning the title with Liverpool in 2014 and enjoyed a dream debut season with the Blues, helping the clinch an historic league and cup double.

The 24-year-old North Londoner also won back her England place last year and was named Player of the Match in a 1-0 Euro qualifying win over Bosnia last November.

Nominated alongside Davison is Hedvig Lindahl, the Blues' Swedish goalkeeper who conceded just 10 league goals, the fewest in FA Women's Super League 1 last season.

Completing the Chelsea trio is last year's Women's PFA Players' Player of the Year and Asian Football Award winner Ji So-Yun. The South Korean forward capped her second season with Chelsea in style, scoring the only goal of the game in the 2015 SSE Women's FA Cup final, played under the arch at Wembley Stadium.

Also nominated is Manchester City's Izzy Christiansen having scored six goals in the last seven games to help City finish second and qualify for the UEFA Women's Champions League.

Christiansen joined City from Birmingham in 2014 and earned her first senior international call-up by England boss Mark Sampson last September.

The 20-year-old striker was named FA WSL 1 Players' Player of the Year at Wembley Stadium last December and also scooped the Vauxhall England Young Player of the Year accolade.

Mead also features on the shortlist for the Women's PFA Young Player of the Year, where she is joined by Manchester City duo Keira Walsh and Nikita Parris and Chelsea's Hannah Blundell.
