Manchester City Women continued their perfect start to their Women’s Super League campaign with a 6-0 thrashing of Doncaster Belles on Monday.

Ruthless City showed little sign of any tiredness, despite playing their second game in four days, as they put five goals past their visitors in a one-sided opening half.

Lucy Bronze scored the first in the seventh minute before Jill Scott added a second soon afterwards later with a powerful volley from the edge of the area.

City continued to press and Jane Ross headed in the third goal (40) after Nikita Parris' effort came back off the crossbar.

The visitors were finding life tough and they shipped two more goals in as many minutes just before the interval.

Jennifer Beattie netted the fourth with a thumping header from a corner before Kosovare Asllani grabbed her first City goal after converting Parris' centre.

City eased off in the second half despite Parris hitting the bar with a header on 48 minutes.

Belles held out until the 74th minute before conceding again, when England striker Toni Duggan slid in at the far post to convert another precise Parris cross.

Elsewhere, Reading and Sunderland played out a 1-1 draw at Adams Park.

Beth Mead opened the scoring for the visitors, netting the rebound after her penalty was superbly saved by Mary Earps.

But Helen Ward earned a share of the spoils for the Royals, firing home from the spot after Megan Beer was sent off for handball.

In Sunday's other game, Notts County secured their first league win of the season after they defeated Liverpool Ladies 3-2 at Meadow Lane.
