Bristol Academy have been knocked out of the Women's Champions League after Frankfurt completed a 12-0 aggregate victory in their quarter-final clash.
Dave Edmondson’s side knocked Barcelona out in the previous round but they fell short against the three-time Champions League winners and seven-time Bundesliga champions, going down 7-0 in the second leg after being thumped 5-0 at home in the opening fixture.
Kozue Ando scored the opening goal on Sunday as she slid in to convert a cross from captain Kerstin Garefrekes.
Dzsenifer Marozsan then doubled their lead on the day, the Germany midfielder beating Bristol goalkeeper Mary Earps at her near post.
Frankfurt pulled away after the break, with Mandy Islacker helping herself to a hat-trick after Veronica Boquete and Cardiff-born former Academy player Jessica Fishlock had struck the woodwork.
Two more goals then followed in the final few minutes.
Laura Storzel found the net before Jana Lober converted a spot-kick, awarded after Bristol skipper Grace McCatty had brought down Ana Maria Crnogorcevic in the penalty area.
