Birmingham boss expected Yeung talks to be terminated

Alex McLeish has admitted he was not surprised by Birmingham's decision to terminate discussions with Carson Yeung. Blues announced on Thursday morning that there was no longer any chance of the Hong Kong businessman completing a takeover at St Andrews. The prospects of the deal being done had faded in recent weeks, and McLeish claims he had been informed of the probable outcome before he became manager last month. Steve Bruce left Birmingham after a period of uncertainty about how Yeung's proposed takeover would affect his future, but McLeish believes the club are now in a more secure position. Asked if the collapse of the deal had given him more stability for the rest of the season, McLeish told Sky Sports News: "Without a doubt. "I kind of knew anyway but it is now out in the open air and it is good that the club can look forward. "During the talks I had with David Sullivan, Karren Brady and David Gold I was reassured enough to join Birmingham."
