Veteran striker Peschisolido is ruled out for the season
Luton Town have been hit with another blow with the news that striker Paul Peschisolido is out for the rest of the season.
The veteran, 36, has been out of action since September because of a troublesome ankle injury.
He recently underwent injections but the injury has not responded to them, meaning the striker will now have to undergo an operation, which will rule him out for about three months.
Speaking about the situation, Luton boss Kevin Blackwell told the club's official website: "Paul's injections have failed to heal the injury.
"It effectively means that the injury will require an operation, meaning his season would be over. It's bitterly disappointing for him and another massive blow for us."
Administration
The news that Peschisolido will need surgery is the latest in a series of setbacks for the Hatters, who are languishing in the League One relegation zone after entering administration.
As well as the ten points docked, administration means Blackwell will be forced to lose other players during the impending transfer window.
He said: "The fact we have only lost once in the last ten games shows we are moving in the right direction.
"Sadly January 1st is coming up and I'm sure that will bring us more problems.
"All we can keep doing is to concentrate on the football, and hope something positive will happen for us soon.
"I have been in this situation (administration) before with Leeds United and we had our hands tied in trying to do what we had set out to achieve.
"However we eventually came through it and I am sure that Luton Town Football Club will do the same.
Hurdles
"There are some hurdles being thrown at this club, but for the life of me I can't understand why.
"I'm mainly referring to the Football League, because I have been told not to take any more players in as it will add to the debt. In fact I'm going to have to sell players and loan players out to reduce the debt.
"All I have asked is to try and keep the one or two players that we have had on loan. But no, we are not allowed.
"I have seven players injured and still the Football League won't budge.
"You can imagine how frustrating it can be. It's one of the most frustrating times in my managerial career, but I have never known a time when so much goes wrong and keeps coming on a weekly basis."
