Agyemang heading to Loftus Road
Preston North End striker Patrick Agyemang is set to join Queens Park Rangers, although Alan Irvine hopes to keep Paul Gallagher.
Agyemang was left out of Preston's defeat to Sheffield Wednesday on New Year's Day after Irvine accepted an offer from the club's Championship rivals.
The Preston boss admits he is unable to match QPR's contract offer to Agyemang and is now waiting for the deal to go through.
Irvine told the club's official website: "It looks like Patrick will be leaving us. He's been aware of a very good offer from Queens Park Rangers and it's an offer that's out of our league.
Appreciated
"Patrick has played in the last few games in the knowledge that this move was pending and I appreciate what he's done for us in that respect.
"When the deal will happen I'm not quite sure, but it's really a case of when it will happen rather than if it will happen. We can't match what QPR are prepared to offer Patrick and it's an opportunity for him to move back down to London which he's keen to do as well.
"There are other clubs interested in Patrick, but the one from QPR is the one firm offer that we've received."
But while Irvine prepares to lose Agyemang, he hopes to hang on to Blackburn Rovers' Gallagher after sending Andy Carroll back to Newcastle United.
Waiting
"Andy will go back to Newcastle tomorrow - I've spoken to Sam (Allardyce) and that's what's been decided," added Irvine.
"The Paul Gallagher situation is one that I'm not sure about because I don't know what Blackburn want to do as far as that's concerned. I'm waiting for Mark Hughes to come back to me.
"I think he's done a good job and he's a different kind of striker - I would like to keep him, but it's not down to me, it's completely down to Mark Hughes. He knows how I feel and I'm just waiting to hear from him."
