Forward frustrated by his lack of first-team action
Javier Saviola has hinted that he may be forced to leave Real Madrid if he is not given more opportunities to prove himself in the first team.
The Argentinian forward arrived at the Bernabeu from Barcelona last summer after spending the majority of last season on the bench at Camp Nou.
However, he currently finds himself in the same situation at Real with Bernd Schuster seemingly unwilling to give him a regular run in the side.
Saviola is not seeking a move just yet, but admits that if the situation does not change soon then he will have to look elsewhere.
Continuity
"All I want in the New Year is the continuity that every player craves. I have a real desire to play and feel like I am helping the team," he explained to the Spanish media.
"On the sporting front the only thing I need is minutes and I ask to be allowed a run because that way things will go well.
"In all honesty I have never considered leaving. I will keep working to play and maybe if I feel that, at some point, the situation is not great then I may consider it, but not now."
Mistake
Saviola believes that the 1-0 victory over Barcelona just before Christmas has put Real in a strong position to retain their title, but feels that they cannot afford to relax with the Catalan side eager to fight back.
"Having the team we have, the worst thing that could happen would be to relax," he said.
"We are seven points clear, but if we do relax and think that the league is over then we will make a mistake.
"Barca are a great team that will chase us until the end and we have to maintain the mentality we had in the Camp Nou."
