Winger keen to prove doubters wrong
Newcastle's Damien Duff is looking forward to playing as often as possible as he continues his return from injury.
This time of year normally sees players bemoaning the number of games which they are forced to play over such a short period of time, but Duff is bucking that trend.
Three games into his comeback from a career-threatening foot injury which had kept him out since April, the Irish winger is desperate to play as many games as possible as he looks to make up for lost time.
Feeling great
"It's been busy, but that doesn't bother me because I'm just delighted to be playing again," Duff said.
"The results have been disappointing though, especially Chelsea (a 2-1 defeat on Saturday) when we felt we could have got the win and definitely the draw.
"But I'm feeling great in myself and would say I'm just about 100 per cent fit now.
"I came off with a couple of minutes to go against Chelsea but I felt like I could have run all day."
Big games
Duff has struggled to reproduce the form he showed for Blackburn and Chelsea since arriving at St James' Park, but back to full fitness he is keen to show the Newcastle faithful what he is capable of.
"Now we have got some big games in the new year and I am looking forward to it," he said.
"When you have been out for so long, you really appreciate playing again.
"We have got another busy month coming up and we have to build on that Chelsea performance and hopefully get a win in front of our own fans against Manchester City on Wednesday."
