Shrewsbury Town have signed Kevin McIntyre from Macclesfield Town for an initial £30,000.
McIntyre, who has signed a two-and-half year contract at The New Meadow, had spent the past four years with The Silkmen.
Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters believes McIntyre's versatility will come in handy along with his talent at set-pieces.
Peters told the Shrewsbury's official website: "Kevin is a tough tackling midfield player, left-footed and has been the corner, free-kick and penalty taker at most places he's been.
"He can play in a number of positions but I like him as a central midfield player where his tenacity, hard work and sweet left foot will make us a tougher side."
Shrewsbury freed up space in their squad for McIntyre after allowing Stuart Drummond to join Morecambe, who had offered him a two-and-a-half year deal.
Disappointed
Peters' counterpart Ian Brightwell was disappointed to lose McIntyre, although he is hoping the additional space in the wage budget will along him to strengthen.
"Whilst losing Kevin is a big blow, his departure coupled with that of Jimmy McNulty does provide me with a lot more scope to bring in some new faces that I believe will give the squad a much more balanced and stronger feel to it," he told the Macclesfield's official website.
"I've identified those players I would like to bring to the Moss Rose and it is now just a case of trying to sort of the deals. The telephone has not stopped ringing so I am hopeful that we will have some news to report in the not too distant future."
