Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that they have held talks with Arsenal goalkeeper Jens Lehmann. And the Bundesliga club are 'cautiously optimistic' the Germany international will accept a return to his homeland. Lehmann looks almost certain to quit the capital club in the January transfer window after falling behind Manuel Almunia as Arsene Wenger's first choice between the posts. Borussia's managing director Hans-Joachim Watzke is of the opinion talks were positive and that Lehmann, desperate for first team football ahead of Euro 2008, will accept the deal on offer. He said: "In my view it was a very positive chat. Jens said he would think about (the offer), but also asked that he not be put under pressure to make a decision, which is fine by us. "I don't know when a decision will come ... but I can say that we are cautiously optimistic about both the talks and the decision."
