England midfielder joins up with Arsenal squad
David Beckham began training with the Arsenal squad on Friday, as the midfielder looks to work on his fitness.
The 32-year-old midfielder is hoping to prove his fitness ahead of Fabio Capello's first game in charge of England against Switzerland on 6th February at Wembley.
And Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has explained that he is keen to assist Beckham in maintaining his fitness during Los Angeles Galaxy's close season.
"He is working to be fit (in readiness for) when he is moving (back) to Los Angeles in February, so now, in January, we are giving him assistance with his fitness," he said.
When asked if Wenger might make a move for Beckham, the French tactician replied: "No".
Lehmann reports
Wenger went on to reject claims that Jens Lehmann is set to rejoin his former club Borussia Dortmund.
"I know nothing about it; the player is under contract here. He is playing against Burnley [on Sunday]" he explained.
Four-horse race
The Arsenal manager also refused to rule Liverpool out of the title race, despite Rafa Benitez's side dropping points against Birmingham on Wednesday.
"I wouldn't say it is completely (a three-horse race). I still feel Liverpool are in the race but they cannot have any blips anymore," he said.
"They are still a dangerous team. The disadvantage for them is that there are three teams in front of them (Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea) who might not drop many points.
"I still don't dismiss them at this stage. It happened to us in 1997-98 and we made the ground up."
