Full-back rejoins club where he first started out

Nadir Belhadj has ended his short stay at league leaders Lyon by completing a move to struggling Lens. The Algerian full-back agreed a deal to move to the Stade Gerland during last winter's transfer window, but stayed on at Sedan on loan until the summer. He had been brought in as a direct replacement for Eric Abidal after the Frenchman moved to Barcelona. However, Lyon then went and signed World Cup winner Fabio Grosso from Internazionale and Belhadj has been restricted to just two Ligue 1 starts this season. Despite his short stay with the reigning champions Belhadj is happy to have signed a three-and-a-half year contract with the club where he began his career.

Pleasure

"My time at Lyon is not a failure," he said. "I have learnt a lot. "It will be a great pleasure for me to go back to Lens. "I am eager to experience the atmosphere and the support of the fans at Stade Bollaert once more."
