Welshman expecting to complete switch from Blackburn

Robbie Savage has told Sky Sports News there is a good chance he will join Derby County. The Rams agreed a fee with Blackburn for the Welshman earlier on Tuesday, and he has now met officials from the club to discuss terms. Derby are currently eight points adrift at the bottom of the Premier League but Paul Jewell has made a number of signings since the transfer window opened. Savage is excited about the prospect of playing for Derby as they battle to avoid relegation and is hopeful of concluding a deal overnight. "I've not signed yet but I'll be coming back tomorrow and hopefully I'll be signing," he told Sky Sports News. "I think there's a very strong possibility." The midfielder decided to leave Blackburn as he was no longer guaranteed regular football. He explained: "It's a well-known fact that I want to play first-team football and Paul has said I will get that here. "Although mathematically Derby are not relegated, if they do go down they are looking to bounce straight up."
