Manchester City are ready to reward Dietmar Hamann with a new one-year deal at Eastlands.
The former Liverpool and Newcastle midfielder has been in superb form for City this season helping to them to fourth place in the table.
Hamann has started all but two of City's 21 Premier League games this term and has established himself as a key member of Sven Goran Eriksson's squad.
Eriksson has admitted Hamann's form has persuaded him to offer the German a 12-month contract extension.
"If he keeps playing the way he is it will be difficult not to keep him for another year," said Eriksson.
