Brighton all set to bring in Irish midfielder

Brighton have agreed a deal to bring Shane McFaul to the Withdean from University College Dublin. The midfielder will arrive on a free transfer from the eircom Premier League side and should join up with his new team-mates on Monday. The Republic of Ireland U21 international had a trial with the Seagulls before Christmas and impressed manager Dean Wilkins enough to earn a permanent deal. McFaul began his career in England with Notts County and spent a brief spell with USL First Division side Virginia Beach Mariners in America before retuning to Ireland. The midfielder could be joined at Brighton by Ipswich defender Matt Richards, who is currently contemplating an offer to return to the club on loan for the rest of the season after spending three months on the South Coast at the end of 2007.
